Principal preparation providers and partner districts in Texas – who currently offer a principal residency or hope to offer one in the future – are invited to join a Professional Learning Community (PLC) focused on strengthening District-Provider partnerships to support strong principal preparation in the state. Participation is free.
The Quality Measures Center at EDC will facilitate the Partnership PLC using a new tool, the Quality Measures Principal Preparation Partnership Self-Assessment: Texas Residency Version. District-Provider teams that join this PLC will build a shared understanding of quality in principal preparation partnerships, reflect on their own partnerships, and identify actionable steps towards maintaining and strengthening their collaboration.
The potential benefits of strengthening District-Provider partnerships include
- a stronger local pipeline of school leaders
- increased capacity to offer high-quality principal preparation, including residencies
- more efficient principal recruitment processes
Each District-Provider partnership should include one key representatives from each organization who is closely involved in designing and/or leading principal.
The first cohort of the Partnership PLC will launch in September with an in-person meeting. PLC participants will then attend a sequence of five facilitated virtual meetings over the 2023-2024 school year. A second cohort will launch in early 2024. All meeting and necessary travel costs will be paid for by EDC.
