Neil Schiavo

Neil Schiavo

Neil Schiavo (he/him) is an expert in educational equity and the evaluation of large-scale education initiatives. Neil leads projects that examine and support school redesign, with a focus on addressing racial and socioeconomic inequities. He brings deep understanding of culturally responsive approaches, continuous learning and systems change, quantitative and qualitative research methods, and student-centered instruction and assessment.  

Neil has worked for a number of federal and philanthropic funders. He was one of 50 senior evaluation consultants invited to meet with 90 foundation evaluation officers at the Evaluation Roundtable Convening 2019. Recently, he completed the multi-state, multi-year evaluation of the Nellie Mae Education Foundation’s District-Level System Change initiative. Currently, Neil is directing the evaluation of an equity initiative in Omaha Public Schools and the Zeroing in on Math initiative in Boston Public Schools. He also directs the Assets and Needs for Advancing Educational Equity in New England, a comprehensive assessment of racial educational equity in the region.   

Neil received a BA in Philosophy from Connecticut College and an MA in Organizational Psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University.
