Course Consistency Strategies

This artifact explicitly addresses the italicized parts of the criteria.

Indicator 2.7 - Systems and structures are in place to ensure that course content, key assessments, assessment criteria, and grading conventions are consistent within the same course even when taught by different instructors.

Description: A suite of artifacts that outline Portland State University’s (PSU) processes for ensuring a consistent experience for their students. PSU has four cohorts of students going through the same program at the same time, and so has put many structures in place that support their faculty to provide a consistent syllabus and experience in each course.

The artifact includes written documentation for how the program ensures course consistency, a sample welcome letter for the cohorts that gives context on how their program and courses are designed, and a sample agenda for a faculty meeting where the program team reviews the logistics of courses across the program.

Why we selected this as an exemplar:  Our team thought this was a great example of showing how a program could support their faculty in providing a consistent experience across courses by building in consistent communication and opportunities for collaboration across faculty.
