3.1 Access syllabus

Accessibility Syllabus Example

This artifact explicitly addresses the italicized parts of the criteria.

Indicator 3.1 - Courses are offered at convenient time and in convenient locations and formats (e.g., online, in-person, or hybrid) to ensure equitable access for all program candidates. Candidates are notified about participation requirements ahead of time, including any required in-person events.

Description: An abridged syllabus from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro for a course on Teachers Rights, Recruitment, Retention, and Evaluation in which the instructor goes into depth about teaching strategies used during the course and corresponding expectations for candidate participation.

Why we selected this as an exemplar:  While this artifact supports some elements of the criteria for this indicator, our team thought it was a great example of how programs can go above and beyond in creating accessible workspaces for their candidates. Notifying people in advance of the physical requirements for participation (for example, letting students know they will spend a considerable length of time using the Internet or significant amount of time with small groups) supports student ability to plan ahead and set themselves up for success based on their individual needs.
