Peer Resources
1. A summary of Year 4 work plans for each state representative in attendance. Attendees presented on each work plan during the PLC and responded to questions and wonderings from their peers.
2. Educator Preparation Program Data Dashboard in North Carolina. North Carolina shared this public-facing educator preparation program (EPP) data dashboard as an example of how they aggregate and display statewide data to support decision-making at the state, EPP, and district levels.
3. Criteria required to be a Regional Data Lead in Ohio. Ohio shared these criteria based on a discussion about how states can support capacity building around data reading and interpretation among their departments and districts. In Ohio, these Regional Data Leads support and facilitate districts in reviewing and making decisions based on their data.
4. Community Engagement Toolkit in Oregon. Oregon shared this toolkit in response to a discussion about engaging the community and families in their ECPI work.

- Webinar: National Center for Grow Your Own. In this webinar recording, David Donaldson, the founding and managing partner for the National Center for Grow Your Own, shares an overview and highlights of high-quality Grow Your Own and registered apprenticeship models for teachers and principals.
- North Dakota Principal Registered Apprenticeship Playbook. Resource recommended by guest speaker Maureen Tracey-Mooney, from the U.S. Department of Education, that provides an example playbook about a principal registered apprenticeship from North Dakota.
2. States’ support of educator workforce development
- Webinar: State Policies that Support School Leadership Development and Support. In this webinar recording, Dr. Bonnie Fusarelli, Executive Director of NC State’s Leadership Preparation Programs, shares an overview of the impact of principals and school leaders on student, teacher, and school success; the implications for state policy and practice; and her efforts through the NC State Educational Leadership Academy to improve principal preparation across North Carolina.
- Webinar: Strategic School Staffing and Reimagining the Teaching Role. In this webinar recording, Dr. Karen Hawley Miles and Dr. Ventura Rodriguez of Education Resource Strategies provide an overview of strategic school staffing and how Governors and states can help support these efforts.
- Sustaining Efforts to Support the Educator Workforce. The PowerPoint (below) is from presenter Ryan Saunders, Deputy Director of State Policy for Learning Policy Institute during the October State PLC.
3. Navigating complex systems and/or politics
- Dignity Index. Based on a discussion among attendees about facilitating conversations with people with differing viewpoints, attendees shared the Dignity Index. This index gives more information about moving from divisive language to a more inclusive language that encourages collaboration.
- Disagree Better. Similarly, based on a discussion among attendees about facilitating conversations across a variety of viewpoints, the National Governor’s Association shared their Disagree Better initiative. This webpage has resources and toolkits devoted to supporting a respectful dialogue across all viewpoints.
